The calendar based planner gives you a complete overview of your growing crops. Each time you sow/plant a crop a new row is added to the calendar showing the predicted growing time and harvesting period.
Record all the following for each crop:

Sowing planting date
Germination stats
Crop thinning
Transplanting
Feeding/treatments
Harvesting/Clearing

The calendar can be shifted backwards/forwards in time to plan future activities and review previous results.
